Palatine Hill and Colosseum
Published: November 4, 2016
The Palatine Hill and Colosseum were the centre of power in ancient Rome. At the Palatine Hill you can now see the remains of a great past where several emperors lived and established commercial areas and not least the Forum Romanum. Santa Maria Antiqua is also at the Palatine Hill. It is a 5th century Roman Catholic Marian church.
Situated next the Palatine Hill is the Colosseum which, I suppose, need no further introduction. It is quite impressive that the ancient Roman people were able to construct the Colosseum between 70 and 80 AD. Then try to imagine the vast number of performances, although of deadly kind to people and exotic animals, that took place there.
